Defence Facilities

Many of the UK’s key defence facilities rely on Frazer-Nash’s expert advice to support their site licences, design and operation. We work with several high-profile strategic facilities such as Rosyth, Barrow and Devonport dockyards, as well as missile processing plant and explosive manufacture and storage facilities.

As a multi-disciplinary company we can support clients through the lifecycle of their business. We provide systems engineering expertise to capture the requirements for a new facility, and support the Design Substantiation, Safety Case or DSEAR approval for old plant as part of the licensing arrangements for a new site.

Typical projects include:

  • Design Code assessments of facility cranes
  • Structural assessment of dock cradles
  • COMAH risk assessment of an explosives manufacturing and storage plant
  • Independent peer review of design justification for dockyard cranes
  • Safety risk assessment of steam generation equipment
  • Plant substantiation assessments for Periodic Safety Review’s required by the regulator
  • Nuclear Safety case development for major facility upgrades
