British Energy chooses Frazer-Nash for strategic partnership

British Energy announces its team of partners in a new £20 million per annum five-year strategic alliance to provide engineering and technical support to its power stations.

With AMEC, Serco Assurance and Atkins, Frazer-Nash will work alongside British Energy in the Technical Support Alliance (TSA).

The TSA is the renewal of a previous arrangement which has already delivered more than £80 million of work and provided British Energy with access to specialist third party technical capability.

Malcolm Twist, head of supply chain and outage at British Energy, said: “This is a skilled team that will provide vital support to our fleet of reactors to ensure they can meet the energy needs of the nation. It’s a key milestone for British Energy. The TSA gives the company long term access to high quality engineering and technical support capability.

“This is one of the decisive actions British Energy is taking to ensure that we maintain a steady supply of technical expertise. Working together will provide British Energy sustainable support for the lives of the power stations. The level and type of expertise that British Energy needs will vary over time so the TSA provides a structured way to accommodate this.”

While British Energy is responsible for the safe and effective running of the power stations, a support infrastructure is required which includes the TSA work programme. The TSA provides certainty and transparency for all participants.

Steven Grant, Power and Energy Director at Frazer-Nash Consultancy said: “Frazer-Nash has extended its range and depth of support considerably to British Energy over the last three years of the Technical Support Alliance (TSA). We are delighted to continue this support, with our industrial partners, as a Tier 1 supplier. Within our diverse UK and International Nuclear portfolio, British Energy is a key client and we look forward to contributing to its long term supply of safe, clean electricity.”
