Frazer-Nash, the engineering consultancy, is moving to new offices in central Glasgow following continued expansion.
The company, advised by King Sturge, has agreed terms to occupy the entire fifth floor of 8 Nelson Mandela Place in the centre of the city, and the move comes as a result of rapid growth of business for the company.
Frazer-Nash opened its first office in Glasgow in 2004, employing just two people. By late 2006, the firm had taken on its 15th employee when it moved to Woodside Place. Now staff figures stand at 48 – a three-fold increase in just three years.
Neil McDougall, Managing Director of Frazer-Nash, welcomed the move: “When we moved to Woodside Place in 2006, we signalled our intention to attract a strong mix of engineering expertise to meet both the needs of engineering clients in Scotland and to support our wider business in the UK.
“Our latest office move to substantially bigger premises demonstrates just how effective this continues to be. We have recruited 13 staff into our Glasgow office in the last 12 months, reflecting the continued demand for our services even in the more challenging economic climate.”
Jonathan Armstrong, Technical Manager at Frazer-Nash’s Glasgow Office said “Our offer to industry and government in Scotland is now stronger than ever. Our Glasgow team leads Frazer-Nash’s renewables, nuclear safety, decommissioning, electrical engineering and energy policy services. In renewables, we have taken a leading position in marine energy, supporting clients such as Aquamarine Power and ScottishPower Renewables. We also influence policy in the sector through our work for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers on the provision of further capital support to the industry. Our team in Glasgow is also leading our support to the nuclear regulator on the assessment of new nuclear reactor technologies. Other key clients include British Energy, Magnox North, Rolls-Royce and Tullis Russell.”
David Cobban of King Sturge added: “Our client was attracted by the central location of Nelson Mandela Place, as well as the quality space which offers scope for future expansion.”
Gillian Rooney of Cushman & Wakefield, who jointly represented the landlord of the building CB Richard Ellis Investors, said: “We are delighted to have secured such a high profile tenant to Nelson Mandela Place.”
Frazer-Nash employees a total of 350 people across its seven locations in the UK – with other offices in Dorking, Bristol, Burton-on-Trent, Plymouth, Warrington and Dorchester. Turnover in 2008 for the company as a whole was around £29.8 million, an increase of 19% on 2007.
