Engineering Product Innovation
Employing a toolkit of innovation techniques, Frazer-Nash works closely with its clients through all stages of the implementation of new products. The process employed by us focuses creativity that combines market knowledge from the client's organisation with Frazer-Nash’s technology base to produce a broad spectrum of solutions. The successful implementation of a new product relies on the management of these ideas. The methods Frazer-Nash uses combine matrix selection techniques with engineering analysis and risk assessment. This generates a product concept with the following attributes:

Instrumentation Systems
We have a wide range of experience configuring instrumentation systems. This includes applications such as:

Special Purpose Equipment
Production of special purpose equipment and test rigs is particularly demanding. The opportunity for prototype testing and equipment development is usually very limited. In such an environment, it is essential to be right first time. Our combination of detailed analysis capabilities, approach to innovation and experience across a range of industries, enables us to undertake the design of demanding special purpose equipment. Working closely with a number of specialist sub-contractors, we can also manage the manufacture and installation of the equipment.

Design Development
Equipment design and development is carried out using our integrated 3D CAD and analysis system. This provides an excellent capability for the stages of development from conceptual design, through schemes and detail designs to rapid prototyping. This allows equipment to be quickly visualised and demonstrated.
Successful application of concurrent engineering enables us to reduce development cycle times. Judicious use of either traditional or computer-based analysis at appropriate stages of the equipment design cycle improves our ability to get the design right first time.

CAD Software
Frazer-Nash has established an integrated system of 2D and 3D CAD packages, providing solid modelling, structural analysis and draughting. The system has links to rapid prototyping, computational fluid dynamics, virtual reality and noise and vibration analysis.
The company currently uses the following systems:

We also have the ability to establish fast links to our clients’ CAD and manufacturing facilities, providing an excellent capability for the swift development and visualisation of a product.
Expertise
Since the company’s formation in 1971, Frazer-Nash has been involved in the design and development of many high performance and complex systems, enabling our staff to gain their knowledge and experience from a wide range of industrial backgrounds.
Our staff also possess an ‘in depth’ understanding of CAD system functionality, with particular expertise in the application of 3D CAD, ranging from conceptual design, development and analysis, through to detail draughting and providing links to manufacture.
Previously, the use of 3D CAD has enabled our project teams to solve complex mechanism design problems, allowing correct functionality to be checked prior to detail design and manufacture.
