Job Description

As part of our Supportability Engineering consultancy business, you will be delivering work programmes and developing the customer base across multiple markets. You will be adapting and developing methodologies to suit new business areas, whilst building and maintaining relationships between us and the customer.

Experience is required in developing through life Supportability Engineering and R&M strategies on major acquisition programmes and the ability to apply the principles and processes of Supportability Engineering, including R&M, to complex engineering systems. Experience of Life Extension programmes would be advantageous.


You will have recent experience working within either of the defence, oil & gas, rail, renewables or nuclear sectors on Supportability Engineering (including Integrated Logistic Support) and/or R&M engineering programmes.

Preferably you will have held a recent position within a consultancy or engineering business environment working as a Supportability, and/or R&M engineer/consultant or held an Integrated Logistic Support/R&M post in the Ministry of Defence (MOD) or as a defence contractor. 

You will have good knowledge of the applicable standards for Supportability, and R&M in your current industry; having an understanding of the role of Supportability, and R&M in the context of the Defence Logistic Framework (DLF) or industry specific standards would be advantageous.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to develop Supportability and R&M strategies for complex equipment from both a      technical and commercial perspective;
  • Recent demonstrable      ability in managing and delivering Supportability and/or R&M activity      during the whole lifecycle of acquisition programmes;
  • A good understanding and track record of managing and undertaking formal Supportability and/or R&M analyses as applied to complex acquisition programmes (including Supportability Analysis tasks, failure analysis, R&M modelling and Supportability Case / R&M Case development;
  • Experience of developing Supportability / R&M documentation such as Management Plans, Element Plans, Case Reports;
  • The ability and ambition to deliver Supportability and R&M engineering within other market sectors;
  • Experience of direct liaison with customers and management of the relationships.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of managing / mentoring junior Supportability engineers;
  • An understanding of the MOD's Support Solution Envelope (SSE);
  • Experience of applying Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM);
  • Experience of Asset Management

Similar Requirements and Essential Skills in other market sectors (i.e. Rail, Oil and Gas, Renewables etc.) would also be considered favourably.

Ideally, you will have a degree level education in engineering or equivalent or, alternatively, significant formal training in Supportability and R&M techniques.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, written and presentation skills.
