Job Description

Purpose of role

To provide subject matter expertise on a range of applications and services in relation to IT requests, issues, incidents and problems. To monitor and maintain the company's business as usual infrastructure and provide 3rd line technical expertise to IT projects.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Providing technical support for hardware and applications
  • Implement new applications and services as well as improving and maintaining existing systems
  • Oversee the correct configuration and upgrade of assigned services
  • Manage monitoring and optimisation of system performance, ensuring effective health of assigned services is undertaken
  • Identify areas for improvement. Recommend solutions based on the technical analysis of business requirements and follow defined best practise guidelines and frameworks E.g. ITIL
  • Plan and prioritise work to ensure that deadlines and targets are met
  • Liaise with both technical and non-technical professionals to resolve issues
  • Supervise the activities of support staff assisting with the operation of assigned services
  • Assist and support with the maintenance of IT Service Descriptions, design documentation and standard operating procedures for assigned services
  • Ensure compliance with Frazer-Nash information security policies, standards and procedures in the day-to-day delivery of IT services
  • Support information security risk assessments with IT Security and Assurance teams
  • Proactively identify and report security risks to the Information Security team
  • Act as an escalation point for difficult or complex incidents and problem
  • Ensure that incidents are dealt with according to customer and priority needs
  • Co-ordinate with teams within IT to ensure that service outages are correctly communicated to the business or affected users
  • Work with the problem manager and teams as required
  • When required represent the Administration team, and IT department at supplier meetings
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and skills and keep up-to-date with new processes, procedures and developments
  • Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills
  • Willing to take ownership on any other tasks and responsibilities required until complete
  • Understand the business and its objectives
  • Provide technology advice and support to Frazer-Nash as appropriate

Requirements

Experience

  • 3+ Years' experience in a 2nd or 3rd line support role or similar
  • Ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate at all levels
  • Good inter-personal skills and the ability to work on your own or as well in a team
  • Can show a proven ability to work on projects from commencement to completion
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Server operating systems
  • Strong skills supporting Microsoft AD, DNS, Group Policy and Remote Desktop Services
  • Good skills and exposure to Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Good skills in VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies
  • Good skills in backup and archive using Commvault CommCell
  • Strong skills in one or multiples of the following: Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePoint Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager
  • General IP networking skills or fundamentals (subnetting and vnetting Desirable)
  • Good windows scripting skills e.g.  PowerShell (Desirable)
  • Good skills in application packaging (Desirable)
  • Exposure to Citrix XenApp or Desktop (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and administration of Linux operating systems (Desirable)

Qualifications

  • 3 A Level's or GNVQ
  • ITIL V3 Foundation (Desirable)
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional Qualifications (Desirable)
  • Relevant technology degree
