Job Description

Our Australian rail business continues to grow strongly.  As a result we are seeking a lead systems assurance engineer to drive growth and further develop our presence in key programs.  Your role will be to lead our rail systems assurance offering, and hence to provide our clients with confidence that their systems will meet the required performance, safety, reliability, availability and maintainability goals.

You will be an experienced engineer with demonstrable experience in systems assurance in the rail environment. You will work closely with our Business Managers; engage directly with our clients in order to understand their requirements; lead and develop value propositions, as well as delivering technical programs of work.

Requirements

The successful candidate will able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in leading the systems assurance activities on major rail infrastructure and/or rolling stock programs
  • Understanding of the key systems assurance skillsets, including development of assurance policy, guidance strategy and governance, safety management, safety in design, systems engineering, requirements and RAMS, and the ability to provide effective technical leadership as a practitioner in at least one of these
  • Insights and understanding of engineered solutions and standards employed in rail projects
  • Ability to work at multiple levels of seniority with client teams
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Strong initiative and the ability to lead and motivate multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams to successfully deliver required project outcomes
  • A good engineering degree in a relevant field and interest in further developing your technical knowledge and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead small teams with significant client interaction, excellent written communication and presentation capability
  • Knowledge and appreciation of underlying systems engineering and systems safety concepts
  • Proven experience in the application of system safety tools and techniques, including SIL calculations
  • Suitable candidates should also display commitment, good inter-personal skills and commercial awareness

Due to the nature of the role applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible for Australian Department of Defence security clearance.
