Are you interested in solving complex, multi-disciplinary engineering problems?

Do you enjoy a combination of hands-on engineering data gathering and advanced analytical problem solving?

Are you interested in working across the entire range of engineering sectors?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then we would love to meet you.

At Frazer-Nash we are looking for an experienced noise and vibration consultant to join our Asset Integrity Division, which operates in many sectors including energy, transport, and defence. We are looking for high-calibre, motivated people to join us as we seek to grow this area of our business.

In this role you will manage and execute a wide variety of noise and vibration related projects. Typical projects will involve measurement, prediction, and mitigation and control:

  • Rotating machinery upgrades, covering specification, design integration and commissioning.
  • Noise exposure and control of complex nuclear process systems
  • Investigation of equipment failure

Complementing your fundamental understanding of noise, vibration and structural dynamics, you will have experience of using a variety of field-based measurements technique such as hand-held instrumentation and more complex data acquisition systems. You will investigate and diagnose problems, then design, develop and deploy novel solutions. You will also support the other teams in Frazer-Nash in diagnosing problems and providing solutions for our clients.

You will have lots of opportunity for growth in whatever areas of engineering that interest you. We tend to support projects that are high value, high performance, or safety critical for world-class organisations. This can require the use of advance methods and novel approaches to answer very complicated problems and engage in method development to improve our service offer.

Depending on your background and experience, in addition to you core technical competencies, you can expect to be involved with:

  • Leadership and management of projects,
  • Innovation of service offering,
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships.

Although primarily a technical role, you will be joining a consultancy where we expect you’ll be able to work across our business and with our clients. Good interpersonal skills are important as is the ability to make structured decisions, solve problems, and show initiative and ownership internally and externally.

As well as interpersonal skills, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree (at least a 2:1), or an applicable engineering, maths, or physics degree with a Masters or Doctorate in an integrity engineering discipline. A Mechanical Engineering degree with a doctorate would be particularly interesting.
  • Technical knowledge in the mechanical engineering, structural engineering, and sciences domain.
  • Business development – flexible on the level but must show an interest and flair.
  • Team player – must be able to work in a diverse and often multi-disciplinary team.

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
