The successful candidate will work with our clients to provide safety support throughout the life-cycle of their systems, from concept through to disposal. The majority of our work is focused on providing assurance that new engineering systems/technologies are safe to introduce into, and remain in service, in line with regulatory and legal requirements. There are a wide variety of projects across the Maritime, Land, Cyber, Space and Air domains ranging from small equipment through to large and complex systems and platforms.

Typically, we undertake the following tasks:

  • Safety Management Strategy / System / Plan development
  • Safety Case development and management
  • Hazard Identification and Analysis (HAZOP, SWIFT, FMEA)
  • Hazard Log Management
  • Risk Assessment and Management
  • Safety Argument Structuring, e.g. Claim, Argument, Evidence (CAE)
  • ALARP Assessment
  • Independent Safety Audit
  • Regulatory Interface and Support
  • Legislation/Standards/Policy/Guidance review and assessment

Requirements

The successful applicant will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A good degree in an Engineering, Safety or related subject (or demonstrable experience)
  • IEng/CEng, or the desire to achieve it
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Must be able to work closely in a team, as well as on solo projects as necessary


It is to your advantage if you meet any or all the following additional requirements:

A working knowledge of :

  • Project Oriented Safety Management System (POSMS)
  • Project Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS)
  • UK and EU safety related legislation
  • Safety standards such as Def Stan 00-056, Def-Stan 00-055, Mil Std 882, IEC61508)
  • Adelard Safety Case Editor (ASCE)
  • eCassandra
