Salary range for this role is £48,000k - £60,000k pa depending on experience.

We are seeking talented and experienced electronics systems / hardware engineers to work on a wide variety of projects and take a leading role in helping us to further develop this growing capability within our company.

Our work is extremely varied and we are specifically looking for candidates who can look beyond the task presented, who have a desire to apply their technical skills to tackle problems in new industries; to take a systems view to understand our clients’ needs and consult and deliver sustainable solutions that truly add value. Alongside the technical aspects of the role, effective communication is also key as we collaborate widely internally, with partners and with a diverse customer base. We support hybrid working, but at times the role may involve working in Frazer-Nash offices and laboratories, clients’ sites and field trial environments depending on the needs of projects.

The successful applicant will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • An Electronic Engineering or equivalent degree: General Engineering or other relevant STEM degree (at Masters/PhD level or with evidence of post graduate experience)
  • Experience of designing and delivering electronic embedded systems following a systematic approach, across the different stages of the design lifecycle, from initial concept to delivery
  • Takes on tasks and commits to completing them, in both individual (self-checking) and collaborative contexts (design reviews, working alongside mechanical and software specialists)
  • Familiar with the behaviours of and differences between modern electronic technologies (ASIC, FPGA, Microprocessor/Mixed-signal, digital and mechatronic design processes)
  • Experience in any of project reporting, customer or supplier communications, working collaboratively across different teams and developing/mentoring junior colleagues
  • Seeks variety, meaningful work and opportunities to develop new technical knowledge and soft skills in themselves and others.

The following are not pre-requisites, but we welcome applications from candidates who have experience in the following:

  • Is a Chartered Engineer (or can describe and show clear evidence of progression towards Chartership)
  • Practical experience of the design, development and test of complex electronic hardware
  • Technical ownership of tasks or functions within PCBs, products or projects
  • Safety critical software/hardware development e.g. DO-254, DO-178, IEC 61508 (or industry specific derivatives)
  • Use of CAD tools: Schematic capture, PCB layout software, Circuit simulation and analysis
  • A commitment to quality and supporting the Continuous Improvement of tools, processes and workflows
  • Awareness of modelling and test tools: SPICE, Matlab/Simulink, LabVIEW, VeriStand, Speedgoat or equivalent tools
  • Awareness of Electronic component & Equipment obsolescence
  • Developing and mentoring junior colleagues

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
