News & Events - Frazer-Nash engineers supporting SMASHfestUK in Gloucester

Engineers from Frazer-Nash will be using their knowledge and expertise to support interactive festival SMASHfestUK, taking place in Gloucester on 28 October.

Frazer-Nash's Alexander Jones and Mark Crudgington will be taking part in the festival, which features art installations, live performance, messy experiments and a 'Survival Village-Space Camp'.

Engineering Director, Chris Guyott, said:

"SMASHfestUK aims to increase diversity and widen participation in STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths). It gets young people involved in developing their STEM skills by using the creative theme of surviving a natural disaster - such as this year's 'supervolcano' - and rebuilding society afterwards.

"Mixing creativity and STEM in this way makes learning fun, and builds talents and problem-solving abilities that can help participants succeed, not just at school, but in many other areas of their lives."

Sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering and the UK Space Agency and now in its fourth year, SMASHfestUK recently won the 'Young Innovator - Engagement Initiative' award at The Engineer's Collaborate to Innovate Awards.
