News & Events - New consultants supporting Frazer-Nash’s rail growth

The appointment of two new consultants to Frazer-Nash Consultancy's rail team is supporting the company's aim to significantly expand its rail business.

Principal Consultant, Derek Burton, and Senior Consultant, Karl King, who joined Frazer-Nash in October have extensive industry experience, with specialist knowledge of safety critical and digital control technology, and of lean project management within the rolling stock maintenance environment.

Richard Wheldon, Frazer-Nash's Rail Transformation Leader, said:

"Karl and Derek are very welcome additions to our rail team, bringing with them a huge amount of expertise that will support our plans for the long term growth of our rail business.

"Karl's background in electronic systems engineering in the railway industry, including systems architecture, configuration and interface management, has seen him coordinating the integration of large multi-discipline projects.

"His expertise in train control systems technology will be of huge benefit in our delivery of these projects to our rail clients. Karl's experience covers a number of systems, including the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), Positive Train Control (PTC), Communications Based Train Control (CBTC), Automatic Train Control (ATC), and the European Train Control System (ETCS).

"Derek's 34 years' experience in the transport sector have seen him implement LEAN, ISO 9001 EMS and major overhaul projects within the rolling stock environment. His expert knowledge and skills range across a variety of areas, including design, materials management, technical engineering support, fleet standards and compliance, and whole-life maintenance.

"Derek's knowledge and skills in asset management, change control, management system design and review, and training will be invaluable in supporting the projects we are delivering to a number of infrastructure and rolling stock programmes. This will, in turn, benefit our rail sector clients, which include Network Rail, London Underground, the Department for Transport, High Speed Two (HS2) and many others."
