News & Events - Frazer-Nash announces winner of YGN speaking competition

On Thursday 15 May, Frazer-Nash sponsored and hosted the Young Generation Network (YGN) speaking competition. Held at the company's Bristol office, the YGN event gives young members of the nuclear industry a chance to practice their public speaking skills and compete for the first prize of £300 and a place in the UK National Final.

This year's winner, Kate Martin impressed the judges with her winning presentation 'Life in the Chernobyl exclusion zone - Why did some residents choose to go back?' Kate, who works for the consultancy Atkins, scooped the top prize and a place in the final, to be held in Birchwood in August 2014.

In second place, with a £200 prize, was Frazer-Nash Senior Engineer, Dan Wilson with is presentation ''Dealing with uncertainty in nuclear decommissioning'.

The YGN is an internationally recognised group of over 1500 young nuclear professionals, committed to the safe development and growth of nuclear technology and its role in meeting environmental targets. They represent the next generation who will continue to be involved with new build opportunities at the same time as working with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to handle the UK's existing nuclear legacy in a safe and responsible manner.

Competitors were asked to submit a 200 word synopsis to be reviewed by the YGN panel, the top six were then selected to present at the event
