Frazer-Nash Consultancy's Ed
Naylor recently spoke to Diarmaid Williams, international digital
editor at Power Engineering International, about the ways in
which the company can help operators with power plant performance
modelling.
Ed discussed the challenges of
rapid and multi-starts, and the modelling tools that Frazer-Nash
can provide to simulate power station operation, helping to improve
efficiency and extend component life.
Modelling the potential impact
of changes to a power plant's systems, or looking at plant
performance in terms of the role it was originally designed for,
can help to intelligently inform maintenance schedules. Modelling
can also look at the impact of, for example, burning different
types of biomass and the potential requirements for boiler
optimsation.
