News & Events - Frazer-Nash offering PhD sponsorship opportunity

Frazer-Nash is offering to sponsor a PhD candidate interested in researching elastic follow-up in metallic components under high temperature creeping conditions.

Starting in September 2016, the researcher will be supporting the R5 high temperature assessment procedure development programme, and will investigate creep strain behaviour under mixed loading conditions (elastic follow-up) for metallic components.

Run by a world-leading centre for high temperature research, the successful applicant will have their fees paid in full and will receive an enhanced maintenance stipend. They will also work closely with colleagues in Frazer-Nash, offering the prospect of future career openings.

Mark Stevens, Group Leader of the Structural Assessment team said: "This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and intelligent student. They will work on a complex, real-world engineering problem with experts across a diverse range of sectors, including nuclear power, conventional power and aerospace."

Candidates should be UK nationals with a degree-level background in material science and/or an engineering discipline, coupled with an interest in nuclear power, conventional power, or gas turbines. Due to the nature of Frazer-Nash's work, the successful candidate will be required to gain UK security clearance.
