Frazer-Nash’s Jonathan Allen has been elected as a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)

Fellowship is the highest level of membership with each institution, and is awarded to individuals who demonstrate outstanding professionalism and competence, working in a senior role with significant autonomy and responsibility. It also denotes a person’s wealth of experience, commitment, and their contribution to engineering.

A Group Leader within the EDF TSA Safety and Process Engineering group, Jon has been with Frazer-Nash for 10 years, and is responsible for the delivery of safety case projects to EDF across their existing fleet of nuclear power stations and new build projects. He also provides technical leadership on a wide range of nuclear safety case related projects.  Prior to joining Frazer-Nash, Jon completed an MEng in aeronautics and PhD in aircraft structural optimisation before embarking on his industrial career as a structural analyst, and then as a safety case engineer with the company.

Jon said: “I’m over the moon to have achieved this Fellowship, as recognition of my contribution to the field of engineering, which I have dedicated my career to. I look forward to using this award to continue to play a leading role in the engineering industry to influence the community for the good of the country and inspire others to pursue a STEM based career."

"Frazer-Nash has supported me on my journey to Fellowship and encouraged me to take opportunities to expand my skillset, which certainly assisted with the application."

"There can sometimes be a perception that Fellowship is reserved for those who have been within engineering for decades. However, as a younger generation within industry, our skills are so important and under-represented, I would encourage those who are reluctant or don’t think they’re eligible yet to consider applying."

Jon’s Line Manager, Holley Reece-Barkell, who also received Fellowship from the IMechE in 2019, commented:

"Huge congratulations to Jon on this well-deserved achievement.  What I find particularly inspirational about Jon is that whilst this is a great personal achievement, Jon’s motivations have been centred around giving back to the engineering community and being seen as a role model for others, which is a great example of living our company values."

Frazer-Nash is committed to encouraging professional development within the consultancy, and provides support to staff at any stage of their career.
