An article by William Kilpatrick for the IAM's Assets magazine asks: 'how can we ensure we design assets in a way that recognises the potential impacts of climate change?'

Frazer-Nash Consultancy's William Kilpatrick has written the main article, 'The Cost of Climate Change', for the February 2021 issue of The Institute of Asset Management’s (IAM’s) Assets magazine, which has the theme of climate awareness.

In his article, William says:

“Scientists are certain that our climate is changing. This change could result in uncertainties for assets across many environments, with those in the marine habitat particularly at risk.”

Discussing the potential effect that changes to the ocean environment could have on organisations’ assets, including increasing the rate of corrosion and greater loading on operational assets, Will asks: 'how can we make sure that we design assets in a way that recognises the potential impacts of climate change? How can we extend our assets’ life, and what asset management approach will be suitable to deliver in the context of environmental uncertainties?’
