Frazer-Nash has joined the Rail Freight Group (RFG), the representative body for rail freight in the UK, to take part in policy discussions that support the sustainable growth of rail freight.

With a membership that includes clients from across the sectors in which Frazer-Nash operates – including rail operators, logistics companies, ports and equipment suppliers – the company will be able to take part in discussions on the latest developments in the rail freight sector, join special interest groups, and provide input into government and regulatory consultation and policy making.

Frazer-Nash Business Manager for Rail Infrastructure, Ashley Stower, said:

“We’re really looking forward to being a part of the RFG’s network of member companies. Our experience, which includes supporting Network Rail, London Underground, the Department for Transport, HS2 and others on a range of programmes, means we can bring a wealth of multi-disciplinary expertise to contribute to the debates on the challenges facing the freight sector.

“Many of those challenges – improving performance whilst ensuring safety, managing risk, reducing operational and maintenance costs, and maximising efficiency – are areas in which Frazer-Nash excels. We believe that some of the innovative solutions we’ve developed to solve our rail clients’ problems, such as our depot modelling tool, which helps optimise maintenance strategies; and our cost and budget modelling expertise, will also help deliver a technical and commercial edge to clients in the rail freight sector.”

Frazer-Nash was involved in research that featured in the National Infrastructure Commission’s (NIC) recent report, ‘Better Delivery: The Challenge for Freight’, which recommended the decarbonisation of road and rail freight by 2050. The report can be read on the NIC website here.
