News & Events-Frazer-Nash’s Robert Battrum shortlisted for UK Energy Innovation Awards’ Young Innovator of the Year

Frazer-Nash Engineer, Robert Battrum, has been shortlisted for the Young Innovator of the Year in the Energy Innovation Centre’s (EIC) 2019 UK Energy Innovation Awards.

The Young Innovator of the Year is a new category introduced to the Energy Innovation Awards this year, and Rob is one of six candidates chosen for the shortlist by a panel of expert industry judges from across the gas, electricity and water sectors.

Part of the Frazer-Nash’s mechanical design team, Rob was nominated for his work on novel breathing apparatus seals. Congratulating Rob on his nomination, Project Manager Dr Suzanna Whitehouse said:

“We’re thrilled that Rob’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions for our clients has been recognised with this nomination. He continually goes the extra mile to find novel answers to difficult questions as shown by his background – he graduated from Durham University in 2017 with a MEng in Mechanical Engineering, where he was an IET Diamond Jubilee Scholar, BP STEM Scholar and Chief Engineer of Durham University Electric Motorsport.”

The UK Energy Innovation Awards, which have been showcasing innovation in the gas and electricity sectors since 2011, bring together more than 300 industry experts, plus representatives from regulators Ofgem and Ofwat, to celebrate the latest and greatest technologies helping to transform the future of energy. They allow industry leaders and innovators to come together to celebrate the ideas and technologies that benefit customers, the environment, the industry and the supply chain.

The awards evening will take place on 26 September 2019 at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel. The evening will include ‘The Innovation Safari’ – an immersive pre-awards event celebrating the brightest ideas and the best technologies.
