News & Events-New business manager to launch civil marine sector

Engineering consultancy Frazer-Nash has announced the appointment of a new Business Manager, Gavin Coombe, to launch its Civil Marine sector. Gavin joins Frazer-Nash with over 25 years' engineering experience as a naval architect, including recent positions heading Babcock's Naval Architecture Group and the French super-yacht division of Monaco Marine.

Already a well-established consultancy in the Defence Marine sector, Frazer-Nash is expanding its offer to the Civil Marine sector. Frazer-Nash has undertaken several projects in Civil Marine including noise and vibration studies, helicopter operations for yachts, as well as engineering tasks on Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamicsand is keen to build and expand this area of the business.

Gavin joins Frazer-Nash from his position as Engineering Manager at Appledore Marine Engineering where he led the team with responsibility of technical delivery for ship projects through all stages of design to delivery. Gavin's experience in design and leading large teams, as well as his knowledge for technical delivery will help Frazer-Nash as they develop this area of the business and secure further work in this sector.

Frazer-Nash's Civil Marine sector will encompass requirements capture, Preliminary and Detailed Design development, Engineering and Environmental Analysis from concept through to decommissioning of all civil marine vessels and facilities.

Commenting on the appointment, Paul Havron, Surface Ships Business Manager at Frazer-Nash, said: "Gavin will be responsible for developing our Civil Marine service alongside Frazer-Nash's more well-known engineering services.
