News & Events-Frazer-Nash celebrates five years in Australia

Five years after establishing its operations in Australia , Frazer-Nash continues growing its Australian business with an expanding list of clients across an increasingly diverse range of sectors.

Since moving into the Australian market in 2010 Frazer-Nash has become a trusted advisor to an array of major projects. In the past year alone, the company has won major contracts across defence, rail, energy and resources that develop, enhance and protect clients' assets, systems and processes.

Reflecting on the first five years and opportunities for Frazer-Nash, Phil Harris, Manager of Frazer-Nash's Australian business said: "We have developed a solid foundation in Australia serving our clients and we continue expanding our capability based on long-term plans focusing on sustainable growth."

Whilst defence projects originally accounted for a large proportion of the Australian business, other sectors have gained significant traction; including recent projects in rail, oil and gas, renewable energy, and conventional power - where Frazer-Nash is supporting major capital procurement projects and helping operators improve their asset management performance.

Similarly, the company's defence work is becoming increasingly diverse. Initially weighted towards naval, the company is now supporting air, land and joint sector programmes, where "with our ongoing investment in the team and resources, we have a very credible offering across all areas of defence," said Harris.

Sustainable growth
Already a high proportion of Frazer-Nash's work is repeat business with existing clients and Harris has a strong view on the business growth for Frazer-Nash in Australia . "We are not interested in growth for growth's sake. Growth enables us to offer more integrated services to improve our clients' competitiveness but it also offers fresh challenges and opportunities for our people. We believe in a work-life balance, and have always had good staff retention, so hopefully that says we are doing some things right."

Unique capacity
Uniquely the firm is able to draw on its considerable UK operations for the Australian market. "Our UK business has over 600 employees, and over 25 years' experience of supporting clients in addressing challenges similar to those faced by our clients in Australia . We have invested in maintaining strong links between our Australian and UK businesses, and so we can readily tap into their capabilities and lessons learned. I believe that additional experience is proving attractive to Australian clients," said Harris.

Opportunities with Frazer-Nash
As its Australian client list grows Frazer-Nash continues recruiting talented engineers. The company is highly selective. Recruits must be capable of solving difficult complex engineering problems and possess the right blend of technical, commercial and client management skills. "We are experiencing sustained growth and continue hiring the right people", said Harris.
